Welcome To Go Middlesbrough

Go Middlesbrough was an innovative program devised by StarmakerZ youth action group, and delivered through StarmakerZ with its partners,to educate young people within the boundaries of Tees Valley in regards to musical history of local and national music since 1960, this has included music workshops, photography courses, talent competitions and fianlly a full album of recordings inspired by the program.

From Dec 2012 to Dec 2013 our program ran with full funding from the heritage lottery program, we held over seventy five events and sessions to fully examine the history of music in Teesside including the influences brought about through migration and also through our once busy ports and trading posts. We took the participants on a journey of discovery, and helped them to understand how the music of today has developed from music in history. We also looked at poetry within these contexts as well.

Welcome To Go Middlesbrough

Our goal was to inspire creativity by using the past music history to create new art through music and photography and poetry we saw young people aspire to digest the historical data and to combine it with modern influences to create unique artistic work over our covered genres.

In this site you too can share our journey with many of the works available online in this website.

Welcome To Go Middlesbrough

Another large part of the Go Middlesbrough project was the photography and art work. We ran talent competitions, recording sessions and gigs at our venue in Middlesbrough and our team captures it all. We also held an event as MIMA where we celebrated the work that had been achieved through music photography and art, all of these events were captured for this online archive as a historical document of our time.
